Breakfast Smoothies

Health-friendly plant-based smoothies which will make you start your day full of energy and good nutrients.

When summer arrives, having breakfast with a smoothie is super-efficient and refreshing. But your smoothie should concentrate all the good nutrients of a breakfast.

Here below two health-friendly plant-based recipes, which you can customize to your liking. The classy fruit smoothie is perfect if you fancy the elegance of simplicity to start your morning. The iced-coffee dream will wake you up, but you’ll feel like you are still dreaming.

And if you’d like an extra protein boost, try adding the optional ingredients, an effective and cheaper way to using a pricey protein powder.

Ingredients for 1 serving

 

Classy fruit smoothie
1 frozen banana, in pieces
30 g of an alternative fruit like cherries (or strawberries, or raspberries, or blueberries, or mango, or watermelon, ½ lemon juice + ¼ tsp ginger, or apple + cinnamon …)
1 tsp of natural vanilla flavor, or half a vanilla pod, scraping out the seeds
1 date, pitted and rehydrated in hot water
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp of almond butter or any other nut butter
2 tsp of rolled oats
200 ml of soy milk, or any other plant-based milk

Optional: in case you don’t use the alternative fruit, you can also add 2 tsp of unsweetened cacao powder.

 


Iced-coffee dream smoothie
1 espresso or decaf espresso
1 frozen banana, in pieces
1 tsp of natural vanilla flavor, or half a vanilla pod, scraping out the seeds
1 date, pitted and rehydrated in hot water
1 tsp of raw maca powder
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp of almond butter or any other nut butter
2 tsp of rolled oats
200 ml of soy milk, or any other plant-based milk

Optional for a protein boost, both versions:
2 Tbsp cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
20 ml additional soy milk, or other plant-based milk

 

Method

Place the ingredients in your high-speed mini blender or traditional blender, blend for about 1 minute and serve immediately. Add liquid if necessary.
